Aloha to lovers of David Friedman's artwork...
David passed unexpectedly on May 31, 2024, and his beloved Joan peacefully left us in September. With so many asking about where to send a memorial, we now have a way to honor the enduring spirit of David the Artist; to appreciate his passion for sharing his vision and wisdom; and to recognize the support given by Joan in their enlightening journey together.
We created and seeded a new Fund with the University of Hawaii Foundation…the "David Friedman Legacy Scholarship in Art". The intent is for the fund to grow by adding memorial donations, thereby supporting chosen, deserving students over the next ten years.
Hawaii's "Aloha" spirit and natural beauty beckoned David 40 years ago. He believed in the power of creativity to inspire, heal, and connect us all. David considered himself a "Visionary Colorist", saying "For me Color is the energy and vitality of Life, my metaphor for Spirit"
A memorial gift donation to the 'Legacy Scholarship in Art' fund will benefit young emerging artists, it will also reflect on David’s life-long creative journey of imagination and his own generosity.
If a Memorial is something you would like to consider, here is the link to the
on-line University of Hawaii Foundation giving form. Gifts will be acknowledged by the UHF.
